News: PayPal Introduces Global Sellers Program

July 12, 2017

Today, PayPal launched their new Global Sellers program to help ease the process of selling internationally. PayPal partnered with "Plug & Play" solution provider, Webinterpret, to offer a range of services including:

  • Website translation
  • Localized checkout and payments

  • Reduced-cost international shipping

  • Improved international indexing

  • Increased online traffic

According to the Global Sellers website, "we know where online buyers are browsing from, so if your store is available in their country we'll automatically inform them with a message in their language."

The plugin takes around 15 minutes to download, install and configure on your store. Once installed, you will be able to automatically offer your products in multiple languages and currencies. The plugin will create 60+ international versions of your store in the local language and currency and offer local shipping options.

The beta version of Global Sellers has been available in the U.K. for the past nine months, but the service will now be live for all eligible merchants in the U.S., U.K. and Germany.

It supports the following ecommerce platforms:

  • Bigcommerce

  • Magento

  • Shopify

  • WooCommerce

Even though the plugin is free, it is only available to certain merchants. Merchants that have shopping cart compatibility and more than $5,000 total payment volume with PayPal are eligible for the program.
