6 Resources for Global Business

As a Localization Project Manager tasked with managing document, software and/or website translation projects, I have been involved over the years with many interesting clients who are pursuing business opportunities around the globe. They deal with a variety of logistical, legal, support, sales and marketing issues as they grow their businesses internationally. I help them with a variety of language and technology challenges from content management systems translation workflows to document translation and desktop publishing.
Translation Services and a little extra - 6 Resources for Global Business
As part of delivering our Translation Services to clients worldwide, the sharing of useful resources is quite common. Clients want to know a hotel in Moscow or Cairo, a good publication for international legal trends, or a recent report on doing business in China, or a cool mobile app or tool to help them travel to or conduct business in another country.

Today I would like to introduce you to six resources you may find useful as you conduct business around the world, travel or translate content for your company's global audiences.
Founded in 1987, British-American Business Association (BABA) is aiming to enable British and American business professionals to develop US-UK business. BABA provides variable programs to facilitate members in exchanging valuable information, establishing networks, and pursuing mutual interest.
Educational and Library
Saint Louis University offers a comprehensive international business program with degree programs at the bachelor, master and doctoral level. In addition to various concentrations in the program, the students can also take supporting courses in globalization and technology.
GPI's good friend and coauthor of many of our white papers, Professor Nitish Singh, PhD serves as an Assistant Professor of International Business at the Boeing Institute of International Business at Saint Louis University. He also wrote two great resource books: "Localization Strategies for Global E-Business" and " The Culturally Customized Web Site: Customizing Web Sites for the Global Marketplace".
The fundamental mission of International Monetary Fund (IMF) is to help ensure stability in the international system. The IMF monitors economic developments on a national, regional, and global basis and oversees the international monetary system. In addition, the technical assistance and lending financial services are great resources to its members.
Launched in 2005, International Business Times is an online global business newspaper. There are 10 editions you can choose from, including Australia, China, Germany, India, Italy, Korea, Japan, Mexico, U.K. and U.S. editions. You will find this site very user friendly and filled with great information.
Understanding globalization terms will help you better understand what services you need for your own company when translating or localizing to support you global expansion, products and services. You will find many useful definitions you are looking for in this resource provided by GPI. Besides the Glossary, various white papers are accessible under the resources directory.
Trade Policy Information
Washington International Trade Association (WITA) is a non-profit organization devoted to offering a platform and forum to discuss international trade policy and related issues. WITA hosts events regularly for both members and non-members. You can subscribe for WITA magazine with RSS.
